A money-making venture tailored for you

There are many ways of making money on the internet. The sad thing is that some of them require you to invest heavily in order to start making an income. With affiliate marketing, that is never the case. This is because in most cases, companies that ask you to be their affiliate do not ask you to invest some money meaning that you will be making an income out of nothing.
Understanding how affiliate marketing works
As mentioned above, you do not have to invest in order for you to become an affiliate. Before delving too far, it is important to understand who is an affiliate, what affiliate marketing entails and how it works. An affiliate is someone who promotes certain products or services and are then paid a percentage of their sales. In this way, affiliates help to increase the revenues of the companies they work for.
Becoming an affiliate is easy. The first thing that you do is to join a company with a great affiliate program. You are then given a link that tracks all your sales. All that is left to do after this is to post your links in places that people are going to click on them. These links usually take people to the websites or the sales pages of the products that you are promoting. It is here that your visitors make purchases thus increase your revenue. In order to make a reasonable income as an affiliate marketer, you ought to working with a reputable company that offers high quality products that sell themselves. One of these companies is Gossimer.
The Gossimer affiliate program
The Gossimer affiliate program is a program that lets you promote products that are related to web hosting, domain names and web services. The good thing is that this company is reputable enough so that it will not take a lot of convincing for someone to buy any of their goods or services through you.
Gossimer pays you a commission of 30% for every sale that you make. This means that the more sales you make, the bigger your check is going to be. Gossimer pays its affiliates through there different ways: through the wire, through mailing a check and through PayPal.
Some of the services that you will be promoting
One quality of a good affiliate program is having a large number of high-quality products to promote and sell. Gossimer offers you just that. They have hosting plans that offer free yahoo credits, unlimited disk space, data transfers and email accounts. All of these “add-ons” ensure that you have no problems promoting their services. Other products that you could promote include:
• website builders
• their email hosting services and
• domain registration and renewal services
Promoting any of these options has the ability to land you a tidy income.

PayPal Collapsed for India, Now What?

It has not been a pleasant February for Indian freelancers, bloggers, online marketers, and affiliate sales person, PayPal has stopped sending payments to India. Well, they claim they have just stopped personal payment to India, but in reality, almost all types of payments—personal, services, invoiced, etc., — have been blocked by PayPal. When consulted, they say it has some issues with its “business partners” and “credit card companies” (as told to me by inarticulate customer care representative), which according to him will get fixed with seven days time.

Like countless others, I too doubt the authenticity of this claim. And like others, I too cannot help and reflect on the future of outsourcing to India?

Who runs the show?

It was a hard pill to swallow, but PayPal has proved that it is not the countless clients, freelance exchanges, job boards, blogging jobs, and small IT jobs that are running the show not what driving the freelance economy in India; it is PayPal that does. We are dependent on this company, and freelancing in India depends a great deal on the whims and fancies of PayPal.

It is PayPal that runs the show.

What needs to be done?

It is high time for us to look for alternative. There are quite a few, but none of them are half as good as PayPal is, yeah I am confessing this, though reluctantly. Moneybookers, Alterpay, 2CO, Xoom, Wire transfer, Western Union, eGold, etc., are there, but they are either too complex or not at all good.

We need to form an Indian equivalent of PayPal to safeguard ourselves from PayPal and other companies like that. An Indian online payment processing system that works according to the guidelines of Reserve Bank of India (Indian central bank) should be formed.

Confusion is not a nice place to be in. It is dark adn dingy in here, and it feels very bad.

IM Netiquette for Freelance Professionals

If we go by the logic provided by Thomas L. Friedman in his book, “The World is Flat” then due to outsourcing the world has become flatter, and as an aftereffect, the offices has become larger. Anything that involves knowledge and computers can be and are getting outsourced. Now, more and more people from different locations on the globe are collaborating to make things work for their employer, which has turned the world into a giant office. The participants are working from the desks of their homes for the employer who is sitting in his air-conditioned office in one of the countries. Freelancing is on the rise, and so is the use of online collaboration and communication applications.

Instant messaging (IM), e-mailing and voice chatting are becoming the prime mode of communication. If you are a freelance professional then you spend a good deal of time communicating with clients on any of the various IM applications. IM and other online communication systems are around for quite some time, but unlike telephonic conversations, we are still not sure how to look professional while communicating over an IM application. It is not the freelancer only who faces this problem, but the client is also equally clueless about the IM netiquettes. To save yourself from the embarrassment, following are the mistakes that you need to be watchful of when communicating over an IM with your client or your service provider.

Disregarding the red signal

Do not buzz a person if the person is flashing a red light against his or her name, unless it is really important. The red light indicates that the person is busy doing some other work. If you need immediate attention and your work is really important then keep your communication as brief and quick as possible. The idea is not to kill the person for being online.

No regards for the status message

Most of us often do not waste their second thought on status messages like “on the call”, “Away”, “Busy”, etc., and keep on buzzing. Always show regard for status messages. They are there for some good reason.

Never setting your own status message

This is another mistake. You must set a proper status message according to the situation. This will send signal to others on your buddy list about your availability or unavailability.

Using Slangs

While talking to your client or service provider, do not use terms like “Wanna”, “Gottta”, “brk”, “gt8″, etc. These slangs and informal spellings are good for personal communications, but here we mean business. Hence, keep these and similar terms out of the equation. Always use proper spelling!

No goodbye

Many a time we do not bid adieu. We just disappear. This is not a good thing. We need to start our conversation with proper hello and end it with a proper goodbye. This reflects professionalism

Tips for Spotting Work at Home Scams

Work at home scams are all over the Internet.  With the demand of work at home jobs rising, so is the amount of scams being offered!  If you know anything about the Internet or even professional business etiquette, then most work at home scams are easy to spot.  But some are very clever and are more misleading than others.  Here are some easy tips on how you can spot a work at home scam:

  • If the advertisement for the work at home job states that you can make easy, quick money, then it is most likely a scam.  Like any job, a work at home job is going to take effort and time that you have to put into it to make any kind of reasonable profit from it.  Be very wary of any job that says that you can make thousands of dollars the first day on the job.  This is just not reasonable at all.
  • Do you do your research on any work at home company that you come across?  Simply type their name into the Google search engine and explore the first couple pages of results to see what you get.  You may get the company’s actual website (which will help you learn more about them) and you may get results for reviews on the company or forum posts from people who have worked for the company.  Look over everything that you find very carefully before you proceed to apply for the job with the company.
  • Never send a company any money before you start a job with them.  Any legitimate company will have enough funds to cover any fees that they may encounter due to your job application.  So if a job offer requires that you pay first, it is a huge sign that they will take your money and never be heard from again.
  • Be really cautious about any emails that you get that are unsolicited.  It is almost always a scam or they are asking for money.  Unless the email states that they got your name off a resume builder site or from a client reference, the best advice is to just delete the email.
  • If the job posting has bad grammar or is really vague, it could be a scam.  Most professional companies will take the time to make sure that their job advertisement is written with proper grammar and that it looks professional.  They don’t want to come across looking unintelligent so that people are scared away from applying with them.  Bad grammar and very vague job postings are another big sign that it may be a work at home scam.
  • Never wire transfer any money to a potential employer (or anybody else for that matter).  The work at home jobs that claim that all you have do to is wire transfer money to someone and in return that you will get a check in the mail are complete hoaxes!  They will take your money that you transferred and you will be left standing there with no job or money.

If you do find a work at home job that you like and want to take with a company, ask them for references if you are still unsure.  Any legitimate company will give you references for you to look at.  If you have any qualms about a work at home job, its better just not to pursue it, as most of the time a person’s intuition is correct.
