3 Things that Affect Your Conversion Rate

We all do a lot many things to pull people to our blogs, websites, and online stores in a hope that some of them will act and buy the product you are selling, or click the links on your website or fill the form you want them to fill. But, it often happens that people come, browse and go without taking any action whatsoever, other than clicking the close button or typing another URL. This is a cause of worry for all webmasters who face this every day.

There are many things that you can do to improve the conversion rate – that ranges from big changes to small tweaking. In this article, I will tell you about 3 such things. The things I am going to discuss may look like simple tweaking, but they have immense effect on the conversion rate of your website. I will suggest to not mess up with the following principles, should you want visitors to take desirable action.

3 conversation rate maximizing principles

Remove the fine prints

Do not keep prices, taxes, fines, interests, etc., hidden by a link. Tell your users how much will he be charged and for what. Do not bury the details in a link. You should be transparent in your dealings —particularly financial dealings — and tell your visitors upfront what he will be paying to use your services.

Send reports

Send periodic reports to everyone whom you bill monthly. Tell them what you are billing them for in each of your mail. If they are paying you then they deserve a monthly statement as well. I am not asking you to send a printed statement or bill every month. An email will do the trick.

If sending mails out to people is going to make them stop paying you then rethink about your product and redesign it.

Make it easy to quit

Do not just make it easy to quit, but tell your buyers as well. They should know that they will not be trapped in the system forever if they subscribe once. Tell them you do not have any intention to have unsatisfied customer.

If you can manage these three things well then you will see a sharp rise in the number of people taking the action you want them to take.

PR and SEO Are the Most Outsourced Marketing Functions

As found by MarketingSherpa in its MarketingSherpa B2B Marketing Benchmark survey, Public relations and search engine optimizations are the most outsource key marketing function in any organization. The study was conducted in 2009, and the chart was released recently.

31% of the respondents have said that they already outsource public relation works, while 29% said that they outsource SEO activities. Another 23% said they outsource Email broadcasting and list management.

Another 16% of the respondents said that they are planning to outsource search engine optimization activities, and 15% said they will outsource social media works. Copywriting is one of the least outsourced marketing activities (only 13% said they do and only 6% said they are planning to do so). (See figure for detail).

3 Attributes of a good Domain Name

Domain names are like brand names and a good domain name is as important for the success of a website as is the brand name for the success of a brand. A bad domain name is not just a bad $10 investment, but it is a million dollar lost opportunity, depending upon the business you are building. You should, therefore, be careful of buying and developing any domain name, and for that you should read this post through.

Short, sweet and simple

Google or Altavista, Gmail or Zapakmail, Facebook or friendsconnect; can you see the pattern? The names before or are short, sweet, and simple. They can easily be remembered and talked about, provided the websites using the names give exceptional service. If your service is exceptional, your domain name should also be exceptional.

Unique and fresh

The domain names you are considering should not look like a carbon copy of the names already in use. It should be striking and unique. Do not make your domain name sound like any other domain name, no matter how much you like the other website do not copy the name. Your name should also not sound stale. It should be fresh like twitter, flickr, etc. Your domain name should be different, unlike any other name

Easy to remember and easy to pronounce

The domain name should be easy to memorize and easy to pronounce. A name that is easy to remember and easy to pronounce is easy to share, and the name that gets shared among friends over phone or in face-to-face meeting fetches more traffic.

You should keep these points in mind while selecting a domain name for your website because at times a good domain name could be the difference between a success and failure on the Internet.

How to Create an Effective Newsletter?

Nowadays every marketer is leaning towards newsletters. Newsletter is an effective medium of communication between the marketer and the end customer or prospect. Monthly or weekly newsletters keep the receiver informed of the company’s latest developments, events, products, or services, functions, achievements, promotional offers, tips and the like. A newsletter can be sent in form of email or it can be sent as a direct mailer too. Irrespective of the medium of sending, an uninteresting newsletter always gets place in garbage. So while crafting a newsletter one has to keep these few points in mind.

A newsletter should always have a defined purpose behind it and targeted towards its audience. Target audience can be present customers or prospective customers or even both. After mapping the audience the objective has to be defined. The newsletter can be reinforcing previous communication, it can be made to derive a particular action like inviting more footfall during sale, and it can be announcement of an event or launch of upcoming product or award achieved.

Maintain the schedule of newsletter cycle. Don’t skip even one date. Timeliness of newsletter sending – whether it’s daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly is very important. Inconsistent delivery may make the company appear irresponsible, casual, and unprofessional. Don’t forget there may be readers who are enthusiastically waiting for your newsletter every time.

Make newsletters customized as per the audience’s profile. Do not send same content to all. If your segment is quite big and involves many people in it from different categories, pick up specific relevant content from the newsletter and send to the appropriate person.

Don’t compromise with the design of newsletter. Even great content go unnoticed for a poor execution of design. Don’t fall for too fancy layouts. Keep it simple, yet creative and unique.

Always keep the communication open. Gather feedback about newsletter from the receivers, vendors, partners, professionals. Ask them to suggest topics. If readers are asked to contribute in content, it will keep them involved and more enthusiastic. Readers can be asked to send their valuable opinions in a given email address. It will keep the reader interested, and feel important.

Make newsletters even more interesting and entertaining by including attractions like – puzzle, Sudoku, cartoon, and case study.

You can also use newsletter as a medium of special discount or free gift. It will keep readers interested and more number of newsletter subscriptions will be possible. Each time come up with an exclusive offer.

Make content crisp and catchy. Highlight the important points. Use bullets and frequent paragraphs. It will help readers to skim through in busy schedule. Too lengthy, complicated, and difficult newsletters are strict ‘no no’.

Keep the mailing list updated. This database is of immense importance. Make sure you are able to convert more and more customers and prospects into newsletter readers. Don’t annoy customers by sending newsletter again and again if they prefer to unsubscribe.

Radio Advertising Copywriting

Radio advertising has come a long way, going through the tumultuous ride of changes. It has become crisp, humorous, and very smart. Radio advertising has also turned the wheel of innovation laced with creativity. As a result many leading brands are opting for radio advertising nowadays.

Radio script turns very interesting depending upon the product/service or the social message it wants to communicate. The advertisement is guided by the marketing strategy. Once the advertising agency or freelance copywriter is done with the script, the production studio takes charge of the production.

To get into radio advertisement script writing one needs to know few basic facts of radio advertising copywriting.

Some advertisements are kept conversational, where the announcer or the radio jockey reads out the advertisement as an announcement. Such advertisements are generally informative in nature declaring sale or forthcoming event. Social messages may also be communicated in the same way. Since such ads are not entertaining in nature, choice of words and voice modulation are very important. Such advertisements are quite affordable as radio stations make production their cost very nominal.

Script of all radio ads have basic similar structure – beginning establishing context, middle convincing about the benefits and reason to purchase, and end which establishes call to action and important mandatory facts like contact information and last date of offer.

Radio advertising is constantly challenged by its inability to build a visual connection. Thus it’s quite important for the radio advertiser to make even more attention grabbing, creative, and effective ads. Interesting script, good jingle, and unconventional communication may be helpful.

Radio is a light medium of indirect attention. So light humor, entertainment, emotions do wonder in radio. Being indirectly effective medium people show less attention towards radio listening and the attention span is also quite short. Thus ads should be short and crisp.

Radio ads seldom pick up current societal topics, events, trends and news. So staying abreast with the ongoing social happenings is very important for the writer. Radio ads are often like a testimony ad, where a professional or a user suggests the product or talks about his/her own experience. Dramatic radio ads which nicely portray slice of life are also a good option.

Ads can be completely musical, that’s jingle. When the ad is jingle, it is the responsibility of the writer and the music director to come up with an interesting piece of song. It can be remix of old music or a new music altogether. Punch lines and naming the brand are very important signing off lines. While finishing the communication message reminder of the brand name and tagline should be kept in mind.

Radio advertising doesn’t have any set rules. Whatever sounds good, builds connection, grabs attention works well.

Dear Customer,

The Internet started with a bunch of popular domain extensions (.COM, .NET, .ORG, .INFO), and then progressed to the assortment that you now find with various service providers. However, statistics have always been testimonial to the fact that no other domain extension could match the popularity of a .COM & .NET.

It’s now been over 25 years since these domain extensions have been a part of our lives, and has grown to be synonymous with the internet. In today’s time, not having an internet presence is considered not having an identity; which is why, we have listed down some salient reasons why you should never let your .COM & .NET domain expire.

The Internet is .COM & .NET: Nearly half of the world’s population assumes that the Internet is .COM & .NET. When people around the world look up your website, the first thing that comes to mind is www.yourwebsite.com/net. Without a .COM/.NET domain you virtually become invisible to the world.

Reach & Visibility: Having your brand on the internet is the best way to connect & communicate with the masses. Information can be disseminated easily which eventually leads to potential prospect generation.

Personal Identity: Your .COM/.NET domain is an extension of who you are. It helps incorporate your personal touch.

  • For instance, if you’re an avid blogger, then maintaining your own personal URL such as mylife.com is more appealing than having a mylife.blogger.com. This helps add more substance to your online presence and views.

Gone Once; Gone Forever: The after domain market thrives on such expired domains. No sooner a domain expires it gets registered. You might just lose out on your domain forever.

Discounts: We offer you some of the best prices possible to renew your .COM/.NET domain name; and the longer your renewal duration, the better your price gets.

So we suggest you renew all your important domains for a maximum duration.

These reasons are precisely why you should consider holding onto your .COM/.NET domain name.

With the world’s population trying hard to get themselves on the World Wide Web, consider yourself lucky to have your brand associated with two of the biggest domain extensions alive on the internet today.

You already have taken the first smart step by registering the Domain; the next is to Renew it now.

Route your marketing plan as per your priority. On the basis of that develop marketing materials like brochure, presentations, and campaigns. Be careful while crafting the write up about your organization, goals, services, donation opportunities, future plans, values etc. The more warmth you can generate from your writing, the better you can connect with you target audience. Sound honest, genuine, and clear. Try to bring out the softer side of every human.

These days everybody is on social networking sites. Social media marketing could actually work miracle for you. Twitter, Facebook are great ways to reach your target market at a very affordable cost. Since people on these social media sites spend some time, are generally in good mood and more receptive to social causes; reaching them and touching their hearts gets much easier. Also create your fan page and community in social media sites. Try to rope in maximum number of followers.

Make a proper website of yours. It should display all important information, news, donation detail, services, contact detail. Update it regularly. Make a blog tab. Write articles there related to the cause you deal with. Promote the same articles by sharing in article directories online. Make you website search engine optimized.

Generate monthly newsletters. Send it across to all email subscribers. It may also contain alternatives to donating money.

Keep up the research process consistent and keep updating database of your customer and prospects. Use the same for email communication, newsletters, follow up calls, event invitations, and research profiling, testimonial development.

Organize an annual event. You can invite media also to publicize your success, achievement of goals, activities done, projects completed, future plan etc. A detailed annual report presentation before the investors, donors, allied members will be of great help.

For further growth of the organization and bigger projects keep up the research work towards finding new alliances with other organizations, government help, media, foreign grants.
